International Jewelry Competition for Young Designers

Since 2012, the Munich Show has presented the “Young Designers Corner” award as part of Gemworld Munich – a prize for young talents from the jewelry industry. The competition offers dedicated creatives the opportunity to present themselves on an international stage and demonstrate their skills. A high-qualified jury selects the eight finalists. The criteria for judging the jewelry and watches: Innovation, suitability for everyday use and technical/artistic realization.

Many former participants have since established themselves as successful jewelry designers in renowned companies or have launched their own collections on the market. Previous winners include talented designers such as Jasmina Jovy, Eliana Petsch, Josef Kammerlander and many more.

The finalists present their work to decision-makers in the jewelry industry and an international audience at Gemworld Munich.

Gemworld Munich promotes young talent

As a central industry platform, Gemworld Munich is particularly committed to promoting young talent. But even in the early days of the Munich Show, trade fair founder Hannes Keilmann attached great importance to passing on the beauty of nature and the fascination for gemstones and jewelry to future generations. Today, this takes place as part of an extensive accompanying program of lectures, special shows and demonstrations. Children and young people are also inspired and introduced to the subject matter through various hands-on activities.

For many years, special attention has also been paid to supporting young jewelry designers. With the Young Designers Corner, Gemworld Munich has been organizing a renowned young talent competition since 2012, which offers international talents the opportunity to present their creative designs to a wide audience. There are also special presentation areas for young designers and start-ups to showcase their innovative ideas and products.

Especially in times of a shortage of skilled workers, the promotion of young talent is of crucial importance. This is why training institutes, schools and further education institutions are regularly represented at the trade fair to inform young talents and show them career prospects. This year, the vocational school in Idar-Oberstein and the goldsmith school in Pforzheim are among those taking part. One highlight is the team from Pforzheim, who will be arriving with workbenches and machines to demonstrate training as a goldsmith up close.

The German Gemmological Society and the German Diamond Institute (DDI) will also be represented on site with exhibition stands. Both organizations are internationally recognized institutions for further training in the field of gemstones and, in addition to information on the training programme, will offer visitors the opportunity to have gemstones tested directly on site.

For training companies, budding jewelry designers and interested young people, the trade fair offers an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas, obtain information and make valuable contacts. As the most important jewelry fair in the German-speaking world in the fall, leading companies in the industry present themselves here - the ideal opportunity to get into conversation with future employers.

Gemworld Munich is therefore not only an important trading platform, but also a central meeting place for the next generation of jewelry professionals. It offers young talents the opportunity to present themselves, learn from experienced experts and gain valuable insights into the industry.

The following schools and further education institutions are represented at the trade fair:
